ALASKA WEDDING

Hayley & Dwayne

September 14, 2023

Bride’s name: Haley Kelley

Groom’s name: Dwayne Evans

How they met: The couple met in Haley’s small hometown of Petersburg through some mutual friends. “He kept trying to talk to me and I was not interested at first but he was persistent and, in the end, I gave him a chance. I’m so happy I did; we’ve been together ever since!”

Number of guests: 40

Wedding colors: Burnt orange, rust, mustard, cream, gold, browns (fall colors)

Unique and special aspects of their wedding day: “We rented out the whole property and had our family and bridal party stay with us at the venue the night before and the night of. We spent those nights around the campfire eating tacos, s’mores, and catching up. It was so nice to have those moments with them to unwind before and after the big day.”

Most memorable moment…

For her: “We took a boat (just the two of us!) to Thumb Cove and had our first dance alone on the beach and then spent quality time together without a ton of others around. It was so nice to not have to worry about other people in that moment and we could have a sense of calm before all of the festivities began. The florals were also stunning and something I thought I could only dream of.”

For him: “During our first look, I was expecting Haley to come up and touch my shoulder to turn around. Instead, she decided to firmly smack my butt. It was hilarious and eased the nerves. Also, it started to become overcast and windy right at the start of the ceremony but as soon as she started walking down the aisle, the clouds parted and rays of sunshine were cast down around us. It was perfect.”

Three words that best describe their day: “Intimate, dreamy, idyllic.”

If they had the chance to do it again, what they would do differently: “We would have given ourselves an extra day for set up! We couldn’t check into the venue until 4 pm the evening before so it was a long night of setting up and making sure that we had everything.”

Best advice for a couple planning their wedding: “Take your time and enjoy the process! Try not to stress about the little things; ultimately, you’re marrying your favorite human and that’s what you should focus on. Also, do what you want for your wedding; don’t let outside opinions sway what would make your perfect day anything less than that.”
