How they met: “We met skiing when we were 16 at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood.”

Unique and special aspects of their wedding day: “One of our guests brought over his wake surf boat and took us surfing in our reception attire. It was really unique that we were able to surf on Big Lake right from our venue. All our guests stood on the dock watching and cheering us on!” Guests also enjoyed the beautiful and delicious wedding cake made by Liam’s aunt, featuring a filling of blueberries and rhubarb “grown right in my parents’ yard in Girdwood,” says Danika. The cake topper featured two skiers, representing the couple’s love of skiing together – their most shared passion. A special time during the reception included “speed photos” with the guests. “Each table was called up one by one and (the guests) quickly ran over and posed with us. We really wanted each guest to feel seen and that they were really a part of our important day, not just a name on a list. It also gave us a minute to thank each person for coming!”
Most memorable moment...
For her: “I remember looking at all our guests sitting during our ceremony and thinking how amazing it was that all these people had a tie to our love story.”
For him: “The part right after the ceremony where we got to finally talk to each other and have a private moment to take it all in.”
Funniest moment: “We found a pair of scissors and I cut my veil short so I could continue to wear it. Liam cut my reception dress and a few of the guests cut their pants into shorts!”
Three words that best describe the day: “Legendary, unforgettable, uniquely Alaskan.”
If they had the chance to do it again, what they would do differently: “We wouldn’t change a thing!”
Best advice for a couple planning their wedding: “Don’t forget that the day is about your love story, nothing else matters. Accept help when it’s offered!”
