Christina Knapp and Kevin Satzinger

July 18, 2020

Christina and Kevin remember many special and personal moments of their big day — "from my brother Nathaniel playing viola as my parents walked me down the aisle," recalls Christina, "to Kevin promising never to go into space as part of his vows.” Kevin is an experimental physicist, so this was an inside joke for the couple. Christina says she loved that their dog insisted on being up at the archway with her and Kevin rather than staying back with the guests. The two married on Yukon Island, where Christina’s family often camps. “The ceremony was on the beach,” says Christina. “We had a driftwood aisle, and a driftwood arch decorated with fireweed, shells and eagle feathers found on the beach. It was so special for us to be able to share Yukon Island with both our families on our wedding day.” During the maid of honor’s toast, she set up a projector and played a compilation of toasts that all of the couple’s original (pre-COVID) guests had sent in. “They made us laugh and cry,” says Christina. “We felt so loved and connected to our larger family and friend network.” A funny moment in the day happened while Christina was reading her vows: “I started to tear up, and our sweet dog Cody didn't understand and interrupted the ceremony so that he could lend emotional support.”
