ALASKA WEDDING
Shannon & Kurt
June 1, 2023

Bride’s name: Shannon Sadler
Groom’s name: Kurt Pataky
How they met: Online
Number of guests: 215
Wedding colors: Black and white
Unique and special aspects of the day: As guests arrived via bus, they were welcomed with the option of a champagne wall or a draft beer bar while they waited for the ceremony to begin. Instead of a traditional dinner buffet, special food stations featured Alaska seafood pasta, street tacos, and southern-style. To satisfy late-night cravings, guests were treated to a DIY s’mores bar and a hot pretzel bar with delectable sauces. A gorgeous flower arch, used in the wedding ceremony, played double duty afterwards as a photo op for guests, including a white loveseat. For a fun touch, custom bar signs and napkins featured illustrations of the couple’s pets.
Most memorable moment...
For her: “My mom helping me into my dress, seeing my dad’s face when he saw me for the first time and seeing the groom cry when I walked down the aisle.”
For him: “My nephews (ring bearers) walking down the aisle to Mission Impossible dressed as security, and seeing my soon-to-be bride walk down the aisle for the first time.”
Funniest moment: The groom is a Jets football fan, and at one point during the best man speech, everyone at the reception started chanting “J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets.” Another fun moment occurred when all the groomsmen tossed the groom in the air on the dance floor.
Three words that best describe their day: “Timeless, memorable, perfect.”
If they had the chance to do it again, what they would do differently: “Nothing. It was perfect.”
Best advice for a couple planning their wedding: “Enjoy the process, have fun with your decisions, and split your to-do lists.”
