Deborah & Robert
July 8, 2023
Bride’s name: Deborah Morales
Groom’s name: Robert Muncy
How they met: “At a Halloween party our gym was hosting. I was Pocahontas. He came costume-less! I mostly remember how much Robert made me laugh and that we couldn’t agree on any music. We officially had our first date just a couple weeks after that and really hit it off.”
Number of guests: 140
Wedding colors: Lilac, plum, vintage mauve (shades of purple)
Unique and special aspects of their wedding day: “We did not hire a wedding planner. All decorations, flowers, and set-up were primarily DIY by the bride, family and friends. Flowers were arranged ahead of time by the bridesmaids. All decorations were set up the day before the wedding by the bridesmaids and family/friends who were able to pitch in to help. The ‘Find Your Seat’ sign was especially unique and was a team effort by the bride and one of the bridesmaids. Preparing and setting up all the decorations was very important to me. Since it was all DIY, watching it all come together for the weekend just made it that much more special.”
Most memorable moment...
For her: “My dad and I were getting ready for our turn to make our big entrance. We were both impatient and nervous as we hid around the corner of the deck. I asked the bartender to give us a shot of tequila, even though I knew my dad wasn’t much of a drinker. He seemed a bit surprised but went along with it. He took a sip and I chugged the rest! A moment I’ll remember forever.”
For him: “Honestly, what I will remember most is all the nice things everyone said about me and how great it felt having all my friends and family there. The manager at Arby’s was incredibly nice. He personally delivered the sliders and curly fries and even gave us a wedding card!”
Funniest moment: “After cutting the wedding cake, I surprised Robert with a ‘groom’s cake’ that had all our animals’ faces printed on it (two cats and a German shepherd) with a coffee cup turned upside down on the top. Robert lifted it up to see a Smirnoff ICE bottle. When you get ‘ICE’d’ you must take a knee and chug it! Which he did no problem. He was completely surprised and had no idea I would get him like that!”
Three words that best describe the day: “Like a movie” – my Dad
If they had the chance to do it again, what they would do differently: “Start the ceremony an hour earlier. Our friends and family love to dance but we had a 10 pm noise curfew with the venue, so we had to shut down the music a little bit earlier than we’d liked. Starting the ceremony a little earlier would have given our guests a little more time to dance and also give us time to mingle more with our guests.”
Best advice for a couple planning their wedding: “If you do not have a wedding planner: Create timelines for each of your vendors and wedding party members. If you think you’re being too detailed, you are not! So many little details come into play and you’d be surprised as to how many questions you’ll still receive the day before the wedding. I also highly recommend a day-of coordinator or someone who is making sure your timeline is being executed as planned or close to it! Because things will change! Allow at least an hour of buffer time for any things that come up!”
