How to Top Your Cake
Not interested in topping your creation with a cheap plastic bride
and groom? Consider these ideas for toppers:
- Fresh flowers, pastry molded and shaped flowers.
- An elegant Lladro statue, or other figurines or creations formed
in glass, crystal, porcelain or a variety of other materials.
- A favorite memento that is precious to the bride and groom.
- Your elegant new monogram.
- Love to ski? Consider chocolate his-and-hers ski poles.
- Did you meet in a memorable location, such as Paris? Consider
a "monumental" topper, such as the Eiffel Tower.
- Vintage pieces, such as a cake topper belonging to a parent
or grandparent.
- Custom-made marzipan figurines that resemble the couple.
- Wide clusters of ribbon, either made of sugarpaste, fondant,
or sheer organza.
- A professional photo of the couple (full-length pose that is
cut out silhouette-style), mounted on a stand.
Having a theme wedding? Consider these toppers:
- For a medieval wedding: A knight and maiden; castles and a
pair of dragons; or a replica of the Cinderella coach to go with
your Cinderella dress.
- For beach and nautical themes: Seahorses, dolphins, lighthouses,
sailboats, scuba divers and even mermaids.
- Western wedding theme: Whimsical cowboy and cowgirl bride and
groom; intricate wrought icons of the west, such as wolves and
horses; western boots For a winter wedding: Intricate glass and
crystal snowflake toppers, tiny white lights, or even whimsical
snow people as bride and groom.
Some of the more popular toppers include: traditional bride and
groom, custom heart with couple's names inside, doves, roses, daisies,
butterflies, gazebos with lovely tiny renditions of nature or animals
inside such as swans or butterflies, wedding rings, basket full
of flowers, interlocking hearts.
